How come my speakers won’t work?

Question by rocken_heimer: How come my speakers won’t work?
Brand new PC. Changed default sound card to new, outboard sound card. I plugged that into the firewire port, downloaded the drivers, plugged the self-powered speakers into the wall and connected them to the sound card using the provided cables with quarter-inch jacks, rebooted… no sound. I checked in Settings/ Control Panel/ System and there’s no indication of a problem – it has detected the new soundcard, it says it’s working properly, but I still don’t have any sound. What am I not doing correctly, what am I forgetting? Do I have to play with the Sound Scheme thingie? Help! Thanks.

I actually cannot understand what you mean by outboard cards but i know about pci-X16 sound cards.

To correct this problem you have to go to bios settings either by pressing F2 or del key during bootup process. No you should go to devices and disable onboard sound card or enable the new Sound Card

Blow them out and buy some new ones or either that or get some REAL speakers. I suggest the Sony SSF550. :P

My speakers won’t work!?

Question by tori BORI: My speakers won’t work!?
One minute, my speakers were working just fine, and then they just stopped, and the light wasn’t on, so I checked to see if they were plugged in, and they were. So I started messing with the wires on the back of the speakers, and if the chord that goes from the wall to the speakers is at an angle, the speakers work fine, but there’s no way to keep it at an angle without holding it… what do I do?!?!
